Java Script on Win CE?

I was trying to access some web sites today that required "pop-ups" to access certain windows. My MIS person told me that I need a Java Script to allow these pop-up windows to appear.

Is anyone familiar w/ this? Can I download to my Axim X50v?

Help is appreciated.

NetFront 3.1 w/ Java Lite would be your best bet . . .

I believe he meant JavaScript, not Java. Many people assume it's the same thing but there's actually a big difference between the two.

Pocket IE supports JavaScript but scripting errors are turned off by default. You need to make a registry change to enable scripting (and optionally to show errors). There are several registry tweaking programs and PIE add-ons that will enable scripting (e.g. PIE Plus, MultiIE). NetFront 3.1 also supports JavaScript but doesn't offer any additional features or advantages.

Hope that helps.

Wow!!! This is all Greek to me. I was just trying to access my companies e-mail over the internet. Once I'm at the e-mail page I click on e-mail and it doesn't pop open. On my laptop it will so I was told by our MIS department that my PDA needs JavaScript.

How do I "tweak" the registry? Is this for novice or pro?

Thanks for the help AJ.

Hi Tony. There's a couple of PEI tweakers I know of. You can try Microsoft's Internet Explorer Powertool, Southway's Mobile's MultiIE, and PIE Plus v1.3 beta 2.

Also note that PIE only supports JavaScript 1.2 with some exceptions (the current version is 1.5). If your email JavaScript code is newer that 1.2 then it may not work in PIE.

Let us know how you make out.

Well, I tried all 3 tonight w/ no luck. The only program that got me close was ThunderHawk II.

Our company uses Outlook Web Access. With ThunderHawk I'm able to log in but and pop the e-mail open but I can't do anything w/ it, such as reply or forward. It won't pop open another window.

I've sent an e-mail to BitStream, makers of TH so I'll wait and see what they say.

Getting closer though!
Tony

Hi there I am in the exact same situation as you. I was going to try ThunderHawk. I see that you cant reply to your emails but can you at least open and read them with ThunderHawk? What is it like to set up?

I had a palm tungston t3 and was able to read my work emial via the web on it with the default web broswer. I cant believe that I cant do this with a microsoft browser, are they not supposed to be integrated.

Please do keep me posted if you solve this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Success

Hi Again

I download Netfront V3.1 and it worked really well with my works web based exchange email. I was able to login, open any message and although I was not able to reply to the message I was able to open a new message, which wasn't a bad alternative. I was so impressed I am going to fork out the 30 dollars for it.

hope this of some help! :)
