AT&T GPRS VPN woes
I've researched this as much as I can and cannot find a solution. I know I'm not alone out there so hopefully someone has the solution. Here's the problem:

I'm using Axim X5 WM 2003 with MS VPN client and a GPRS modem card. I am trying to connect to our corporate VPN. The vpn connects to our public VPN server which is Win 2k Server running RRAS and assigns an internal address of 10.0.1.x. This server works wonderfully for all of our mobile users.

I am using an AT&T GRPS card in the Axim connecting to AT&T's GPRS network. I am able to connect and browse the web satisfactorily. Their network assigns an address to the Axim of 10.x.x.x When I connect to our VPN server, the Axim is registered on the network and assigned an address 10.0.1.15x, which is correct. The problem is that the Axim does not know how to send any traffic to a 10.0.1.x address over the VPN. I have tried any number of "Work URL Exceptions" such as 10.*.*.*/*, 10.0.*.*/*, 10.0.1.*/*, and *.<domain name>. Nothing works.

I spent a half hour with an AT&T rep who was very helpful but unable to solve the problem. He escalated me to a higher rep to the same end: the problem isn't on the AT&T network, it is on our VPN configuration. They are unable to give our SIM card an address other than 10.x.x.x such as a 192.x.x.x number. A Cingular SIM would be given the same address range.

This same SIM card works in my XP laptop satisfactorily, probably due to the smarter and more thorough operating system.

Has anybody else had this problem and fixed it. The only solution I can see is changing our internal network to something else, such as 192.168.x.x, which I am not ready to do yet. Thoughts?
