some minor but (very) annoying problems

I got a replacement for my aximx30hi from dell yesterday. now i wanted to put all data from my old axim into my new one. so i made a backup and everything worked fine...except for the calendar. it just doesn't show any appointements. i've put a lot of time in entering the appointements so i just don't want do do this again. is there any way to copy my appointements to the new one?

other problem: when i open word, excel or notes, my axim won't open from my my memory card. it only opens some folders as: my documents, templates, my device,... which are all empty. there is no way to get to another folder such as the storage card. i tried to do this on my new axim too but it is the same problem as the old one (has to do something with the backup i guess). It worked fine on the old one before though... any suggestions?

Have you deleted the "ignore documents file" on the memory card. (it's probably a hidden file) Not sure about the appointments. What type of backup did you use?

i just used the standard backupprogram that came with the axim. Where can I find this 'ignore document file'? i chose 'view all files' in the menu but i can't see it. Is it situated in a map or do i need to sync with a pc to see it?

To access your documents on memory cards, here is what you need to do:
  • Create a "My Documents" folder on the card, and put your documents inside.
  • Delete the hidden file "ignore_my_docs" located at the root of the card. If the built-in file explorer doesn't allow you to see it, use the "Explore" feature of ActiveSync.

Hope this helps :approve:

i put my documents in an already existing my documents folder on my memory card, and tried again to open it using excel and it works!!! thanks you very very much. I could not find the hidden file on my axim and can't use activesync because i don't have my cradle with me but it works anyway so... nice :approve:

any help for the calendar-problem would still be quite useful though :rolling:

If you already have a working "My Documents" folder, then your "ignore_my_docs" file has probably been already deleted by whoever (or whatever) created the folder. Glad to see it works :approve:

No clue, sorry :hide:
In the backup utility, there's a "Backup PIM database only" option. Perhaps you should try that ?

I had a similar problem on my X50 with the calendar and some other quirky things. I found that periodic soft resets corrected the problem. A few times I have had to soft reset daily, depending on what I am doing.

Hope that helps!

I love it when a story has a happy ending.

Glad to see you fixed the problem. I store all my docs, files and almost everything else on my 1gb SD card. It frees up a lot of program memory. Anyway good luck.
