Questions re managing Outlook fields

I'm new to Outlook, both the desktop and pocket versions, so forgive me if these are basic questions.

1. Pocket Outlook's Contacts has various fixed fields. Can I customize them on my X50v? (rename, add or delete fields, etc.)

2. Pocket Outlook has a field for children's names, which I use often; however, neither Outlook 2002 nor 2003 has that field under the "General" or "Details" tabs when entering data. I know how to "Customize Current View" so the information will be displayed in my address cards, but how can I add it to the data entry form so it appears under either the General or Details tabs when I am inputting information and creating a contact?

3. Can I add fields for the children's birthdays? How? And can I make that info appear on the General or Details tabs so it can easily be entered?

4. For friends that are a husband-wife pair, should I create separate entries for both the husband and wife? Or just create one entry and name the spouse in the contact?

Thanks.

Bump. Forgive me, but I could really use assistance with these questions. Can anyone help, or direct me to the proper forum if this isn't the right place to post?

I don't think that the standard built-in Contacts software allows for many of the Outlook fields. I've just checked my Pocket Informant (if you're unaware of this, it's a replacement for the built in Diary, Contacts and Tasks apps - there is a similar one called Agenda Fusion as well) and this DOES have a field for Children but not, as far as I can see, for the childrens birthday.

What you can do however, is to create seperate Contact entries for each child, with their own birthday (Pocket Informant does allow a birthday on each contact) and then LINK each child to the parent(s).

Hope that this helps.

I use both Pocket Informant and Contact Breeze. Worth taking a good look at. Breeze has a tab that I have entered everyones BD's and Annv's. It tells me how many days till each BD, how old they will be and sets a alarm set to my chose as a reminder. There are free trials available.

How do I link entries?

And are there any custom MS Outlook forms that allow me to easily enter this information (child and spouse birthdays, etc.) on my PC?

By the way, when I enter a birthdate or anniversary, do I enter the actual birth or anniversary date (1967, whatever) or the next date in 2005?

Thanks.

What are you using as your diary/contacts manager? As far as I know, the built-in applications don't allow for linking at all. Using Pocket Informant you have a link icon (a couple of interlinked links) and you can link any other diary entry, task, contact or file to a contact.

No idea about custom forms...I only use Outlook as it comes out of the box!

Birthdays....I *think* you need to enter it in the "year 0" date if you want things like Pocket Informant and Pocket Breeze to work out how old the person will be at the next birthday.
