I have several questions about regaining space on my Axim...
1) I installed a software package on an SD card, upgraded the ROM and reset, removed the package from the SD card, then installed the software again. I have two icons for the program in my menu--one works, one doesn't. I can't seem to find where the bad one is located. How do I delete it? 2) I'm using an add-in word processor and browser, and won't be using Pocket Word or IE. Can these two programs be deleted to save space? 3) Is there some guide as to what can/cannot be removed from the Axim to slim its sofware profile down a bit? Thanks in advance...

1.) One thing you can do, is download the trial for dinarsoft's memmaid. It is a great utility for clearing dead registry, ie cache ect... Heres a LINK
2.) You can try deleting the program files for word and IE from the windows folder, but most likely they will reapear after a soft reset.

Thanks!
Thanks, tancerman. I appreciate the pointers.
I followed the link for your Axim. Quite impressive! I didn't know pPod existed. I've been cruising the web trying to find a downloadable copy still out there. I'll find it, eventually...

1.You should Install all of your Program's as you can to BIS|SD or CF card, with the exception of certain programs that need to be in Ram. 2.Although you might be using another word Processor, most of the world uses WORD so you might just want to keep it installed in case you have to read someone elses writing's. 3.I also use a free Browser alternative called FtXpBrowser (Link located in MYPDA) as another Browser which i Have installed on my CF card and it works perfectly from there. 4.Im sure if you do a search for a guide you will prob find one here or on the net. So what im saying is that, if you can install most of your programs anywhere, but in Ram, you will have plenty of Ram to run your App's, I currently have about 39 Megs free, and believe me I have alot of Apps and Game's BTW there is a great Sticky in PDA\noobies about memory and storage by another member here Stoneraven9,Well I hope I helped you some

Textmaker is supposed to actually allow transfers back-and-forth between desktop Word and the PocketPC without losing formatting. When I read how stripped down both Pocket Word and PIE were, I thought it was a cruel joke by M$. I've also purchased Netfront as a browser, and it looks to be pretty hot. Since I'm using two apps that are what the M$ apps should have been, I won't be using the M$ stuff and wanted to delete it. No icons, no resource hogging. I'm putting as much as I can on my SD card and have been saving main memory. Perhsps I've been working with older, slower laptops and desktops too long, but in those worlds getting as much detritus off the system as you can makes it run better. I'm looking at the 64MB internal barrier and thinking I need to free up as much as possible; perhaps I need to look at PPCs and memory usage as a new paradigm...? Thanks for the article pointer; I'll go read it. And thanks for the other info as well...I'll be learning about this stuff for a while! ![]()
