Adding shortcuts to the New menu (or editing an existing link)

I installed something on my flash card that I ultimately changed to another location. The shortcut that was there, now is broken.. does anyone know where these shortcuts are stored, and how I can update them?

I couldnt find anywhere obvious (just about the only thing I haven't checked is the registry).

Thanks

When 'moving' applications it is usually better to uninstall and reinstall the application as this sorts out any registry issues automatically.

For the "New" menu (I am assuming you mean the new button in the bottom left) these entries are in your registry - so if you know what you are doing you can change them.

is there a way to install items not just in the /storage folder, but in something like /storage/program files/ ?

otherwise, it makes my /storage folder a nightmare to navigate

yeah i agree with you, i like my directory tree's clean

and orderly.

"my" only way to do it, is to always used the *.CAB files

because with those you can really assigned a full path

as to where you want the install to go to...

here's a nice freeware Cabinstl

When installing new software/applications to your Storage Card, the installation feature of that software/application automatically creates a folder in the Root Directory of your Storage Card. So you can NOT install them, or move them later, into another folder in your Storage Card, that you have created and named "Program Files" or "My Programs". If you attempt this, you are screwing with your Registry and unless you are VERY proficient in editing a Windows Registry, this is VERY dangerous.

I suggest that you cleanup/rename your Storage Card's folder names, so you can easily "navigate" your Root Directory. Since folder names are listed in alphabetical order, you accomplish this by placing an underscore "_" ahead of your DATA folder's name. This places these folders at the TOP of your Root Directory. I also suggest that you make these folder names all CAPS, so they really stand out. Do NOT attempt to change the name of ANY software/application folder.

Examples:

_DELL-DOCS Note: this is where I keep my Dell pdf Manual
_DOCS
_IMAGES
_MUSIC
_SHARE Note: this is where I place files to Bluetooth
_TEMP
_VIDEOS

Just to add to this.

There is actually a registry hack (you just change a 0 to a 1) so that when you say no to default it allows you to choose a directory on any of your other storage.

But for the life of me I can't find it at the moment (mind you I haven't searched that hard).

I am positive Whitelyt posted it
