Enable wifi power saving if you're just browsing the web or reading email. You shouldn't notice a difference in speed, but your battery life will be almost twice as long compared to leaving it disabled. But if you're transferring files or streaming from your network, you'll want to leave power saving disabled.
Eh, thats normal.. set wifi power save on auto, set the processor to be auto.. should get a bit better battery life.. and drop the brightness of the screen.

2.5 hrs max.. with standard battery, wifi power saving disabled, playing some streaming video, BT mouse, processor set to auto, screen set to about 75% brightness, no beams accepted. A03 hardware with A03 rom.
i called up dell to confirm this. it was in the chart too. this thing is really a power hungry monster.. more like a george w. bush image oh well.. i guess we have to settle on this for now not until dell or WM figures a way how to conserve batt life. thx for all the reply guys

The battery life of about 2.5hr is about right, but if you disable powersave, most users have problems with speed and connectivity to the internet, and really there is no saving's in this mode anyway:approve:

I've gotten the longest X50V standard 1100 mA battery life I've heard of when listening to audio books in WMA format using WMP 10. I set the processor power option to "power saving" (208 MHz), start WMP 10, then turn off the display. I'll get 5 1/2 to 6 hours before the "low battery warning" (set at 20%)comes on. And I can listen for about 7.5 hours before the AXIM shuts down because power is too low. I keep the master volume low, use headphones, and turn up the WMP volume. I don't know if that makes a difference.
I see that if I set the processor power to AUTO, the current speed goes as low as 104 MHZ. That still seems enough to play the audio book with no problems. I suppose I could get even more time from the battery at this speed.
However, using WiFi as others have posted, I'm lucky if I get 2.5 hours.
I don't use the WiFi too much, but running a CF card GPS on it does a job on the battery as well. I ordered the larger capacity battery, so we will see how that works.
