It shouldn't clear the rom update because it is in rom. A hard reset only clear eveything in ram...

I am not sure, cause when I run the update it ways it will clear out everything, then I do a hard reset and it is back to sqare one. I lost everything I have done over the last few months.

You only need to apply the update once. When you do it is like reformatting your computer and re-installing windows.

If you have a previous backup you might be able to use it to copy your information back.

Sprite backup has a facility to restore information from a pre-update version. I used that to recover all my programs and information.

That is what I thought until i installed it and it was back to the factory defaults.
I will look into getting ther sprite backup and maybe that will help me.
I did a restore so that I would have my info back and that wipped out the update.

Ok, I wasn't sure what you did before.. But I do understand now, There is a setting in sprite to make a backup that you can restore onto a later version of the Rom. Make sure you tick that little box

Sprite is a great bit of software by the way. I have it set to do a backup of my x50 every night at 11pm. If it all goes wrong for some reason i can restore it to the previous nights settings
(I know you can do a similar thing with the Built in Backup util, the trouble with that is that i kept forgetting to run the backup )
