Installing apps to BIS/SD/CF card - what about registry settings?

Here is the deal. We install, for example, Sprite backup and Resco file explorer to Built in Storage(BIS) which, I understand will survive a hard reset. However the registry settings for those BIS-installed apps are no longer available because the registry is in RAM which is wiped during a hard reset.

So explain to me why installing to BIS/Sd/CF is a benefit other than keeping the RAM as free as possible for running apps.

I install my most often used apps in BIS instead of memory card because I will always have access to it if I swap cards. Memory cards I use for more for data (e.g., mp3s, movies, ebooks) and specific applications (e.g., GPS).

Many of these programs will still work without the registry settings until you can recover (know from experience). I try to keep cab files in BIS for my most crital apps.

Of course Sprite will keep a copy of your registry safe and sound for you
