SMTP Authentication?

Hi everyone,

I've tried searching for an answer to this but can't quite find what I think I need.

I am using an X3i wireless and have four e-mail accounts set up through various incoming servers. My host e-mail account which I understand was changed at the end of May to require SMTP authentication for all mail, works fine for both sending and receiving mail but my other accounts which use different incoming servers cannot send mail.

I have checked the 'check box' in the options part of the mail set-up for "outgoing e-mail server requires authentication" but I get the following messages:

"Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again."

and then:

"The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again."

On my laptop using Outlook 2003 I have added the account details for my 'host' account to all the other outgoing e-mail accounts so that all mail is authenticated but I cannot find anywhere to enter this information on the mobile version of Outlook on my PDA and can only guess this is why the mail is being returned/not sent.

Am I missing an upgrade or something more simple?

HELP, I NEED SOMEBODY!!!!!!

Jon

Under "outgoing server settings" after you checked the box for "server requires authentication". When it asks for your User Name use your FULL EMAIL address (ie - Adam@ISP.com instead of just ADAM), put in your password, check the box to save your password, and check the box that says "Require SSL for outgoing mail". See if that fixes it. Let us know. Good Luck~

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

In screen 'Options (2/3)' where I check the "outgoing e-mail server requires authentication" it doesn't ask for any user name and password at this point or in fact any other point after this. Have I got an old software version of Pocket Outlook?
