Hmm Windows Mobile 2003 software for GPS?

I just oredered a pharos pk038 navigation system. It states I need Windows CE 3.0 or better. I have an X5 that I bought and never used until now. I believe I have pocket pc 2002. I am assuming I will not be able to use the program until I have Windows Mobile 2003 . Is this the same as Windows CE 3.0. I have been searching all over for Windows Mobile 2003 including ebay but have yet been able to get my hands on the software. DOes anyone know where I may be able to get a copy I am about to give up this is too frustrating lol. Thanks.

yes, as far as i know, they are one and the same. i bought my ppc 2003 cd of ebay just a month ago and upgraded my dell axim x5 advanced that i bought a few years ago as well. everything went well in the end, but it was touch and go for a bit there with my destionator gps software.

all in all, i got this cd for about 10us or 15cdn. Shoot me the same by PAYPAL and i will send you the CD(north america address).

that same person has this for sale, which is the same CD, just described differently, if you would rather get it from him.

a trick i learned in this process is that active sync 3.8 has problems, and when i went back to 3.7.1, everything worked great.

Should I not install MY GPS until I upgrade operating Systems? Also if I purchased the cd through you is it possible for you to send me a link to down load tonight as well as the cd or is the upgrade on a cd only? Thanks for your help.

Pocket PC 2002 is Windows CE 3.0. Go to Start, Settings, System tab and tap About. The version should be 3.x. For Windows Mobile 2003 it will read 4.x.

No need to upgrade unless you want to.

is pocket pc 2003 a lot better then 2002? I have not used my PDA since the first month I had it (feb 2003) I want to use it now primarily for GPS. Is there a minimal amount of memory I should have or are there any other cool recomendations you might have that I have missed over the last 2 yrs lol Thanks for your help!

If you haven't used your PPC in two years, then I wouldn't bother upgrading the OS. GPS should work just fine with what you have. You will probably want a storage card as maps can take quite a bit of space.

You should try Mapopolis. The app is free and they have demo maps you can try before buying. www.mapopolis.com

Why do you recommend not installing the new os? Thanks.
