Slightly annoying Inbox Issue

I've got inbox set up on my Dell X50v to download POP3 mail from my SBC Yahoo accounts, and IMAP4 from my buisness account. It handles the IMAP account OK. With the POP3 accounts, it tries to download every item on the server - even if I have already read the item. Sometimes I wind up with multiple copies of the same e-mail.

Is there anyway to tell INBOX to ignore POP3 mail that has already been read?

Could you provide KISS setp by step on how to get Yahoo! email on your Axim? I have not had any success.

Anyone also know how to get AOL email on the Axim.

My Outlook email and cable operator emails run just fine to my PPC but Yahoo and AOL are a problem.

Thanks!

FlintLock ~ SBC Yahoo is not the same as the regular free yahoo. Free yahoo requres a preimum service in order to set up a pop3 account. More info can be found at the Yahoo.com site if you are intersted. As far as AOL goes, good luck. AOL can be a real pain. But there may be some third party software that will allow you to do it.

Darth Gates ~ Some mailbox settings do not allow you do delete mail form the server via remote like form your Axim. You might be able to find more info on your ISP site. I looked around but was unable to find it. Of course I am assuming you have tried to delete the messages after you read them. I know my STMP setup will not let me delete them, instead it marks them as already been downloaded via remote and does not download them again. Until I get home and use my regular setup. Good Luck~

Big Smile

Thanks!

I do have the free Yahoo oh well. :rolling:

AOL go figure Once the kids are grown and gone so will my AOL (They think the only way to get on line is through AOL and with parental controls I feel better. Sure, once they figure the way to get around it I will have to load Net Nanny or such. AOL is good at the parental controls but a problem if you wanted to use it with an Axim etc., oh well! :rolling:

Now I am doing a full back up via active sync before I download ROM A06. I sure hope I don't blow up my Axim with this ROM upgrade :hide:

FlyACL - What i would like to do is mark the mail as downloaded, and leave a copy on my server. Inbox downloads it, leaves a copy, and then tries to download it again the very next time I log on. It is strange and annoying.

Flintlock1776 - there are actually free websites out there that somehow allow you to treat Yahoo as a POP3 client. I don't know of any off hand, but I saw one discussed at this site earlier today. So, try the search button and enter "POP3 Yahoo."
