Arrow WPA-PSK backward compatability with Dell TrueMobile 1180 802.11b WiFi card help need

Im right now residing at a dorm where the only WiFi access point in use is a D-Link DWL-2100AP. The admins have configured a WPA-PSK setup and being me, I only have got my Dell Axim PocketPC with me (WM2003 OS, Dell TrueMobile 1180 802.11b WiFi card).

Apparently Im told that the WPA-PSK key is not compatible with 802.11b products. Is this true? Or is there a 3rd party app I can use to accept the WPA-PSK key?

If you've got a 802.11g access point with WPA-PSK setup and have a 802.11b card (Desktops and laptops) and have gotten things to work smoothly, ps reply to this thread as to which OS you're using and whether you're using an 3rd party app.

The fact that it is 802.11b does not rule out WPA per se (all the X30 and X50 devices have 802.11b wireless and can use WPA), but the device operating system (or possibly the drivers for the adapter) need to support it and that is not the case with WM03 or the TrueMobile card.

Coincidentally, I just downloaded Hitchhiker from Kasuei and noticed on their web site that it supports WPA. Unfortunately, that appears to only be the case if you are using it with WM03SE since I just tried setting up WPA on my home router and tried Hitchhiker on my WM03 PPC and it never gave me an option for a WPA key (still only WEP).

I'm afraid there's not much hope at this time.

so you mean to say that when you configured the WiFi config on your X50 using the OS's config util, there was a pull down bar which had the option of 'WPA Pre-shared key'? Or does the pull down menu only have the following options like that of the WM2003 OS: 'TLS', 'PEAP'?
