my computer died on me, so I don't have the luxury of active-sync. Is there a zip extractor that instals directly on my pocket pc?

Total Commander is a freeware app that will let you unzip files.

If the software you want to install is available as a CAB file, you can install directly on ppc. D/L cabinstl so that you can specify where the software is installed
