Help Deleting Programs

I have downloaded a Paris visitor guide then uninstalled it but I still I have an icon in my programs list. The icon is not an executable but I would still like to get rid of it. I am totally new to the world of pocket PCs and any help that could be given would be greatly appreciated (in simple English! )

From your pc: use Activesync to navigate to the Windows Folder, then go to Start Up and the Programs. There will most likely be a shortcut icon in the folder that you can tap (hold) and delete.

You'll know that it is a shortcut by the arrow in the BLHC or, select details from the drop down menu and it will tell you if it is a shortcut.

It's not a shortcut and I don't know how to use Active-Sync to navigate to the Windows Folder, is it the Windows Folder on the PC or is there a Windows Folder on the Pocket PC?

In the Activesync main window (on your pc) you should have a tool bar button labelled Explore. Click on that and it will open an explorer window. Click on My Pocket PC and follow the links from there.

You should find the icon file in the Start Menu.

hello scott as i understand u might have uninstalled it from the pc but not from the axim so u can go settings under systems u have remove programs .still if it doesnt go u need to do a hard reset .u need to press and hold the stylus in the pinhole at the back of the axim pressing the power button at the same time for 15 seconds, then u will get a screen asking u to press contacts button to clear the data ...... caution: back up all u r data using backup option under system and then do this otherwise u will loose all the data....

Hi norman,

If you're having trouble getting to the file with ActiveSync, you can manage this all on the PPC.

Open File Explorer, tap on the device icon near the top left, and choose My Device from the dropdown menu. Then, in the list that comes up, tap on Windows, and in the next list, tap on Start Menu. In its list, tap on Programs, and in that list you should see a file with the name of the program you removed. Tap and hold on that name, and choose Delete from the pop-up menu.

That ought to do it. Good luck.

Marc
