Messaging and annoying messages when not connected to network

I set my messaging program to check for emails every 4 minutes.
Annoyingly, I get a message every 4 minutes saying no network is present whenever I'm not at a wi-fi point or using ActiveSync.
Can this message be disabled for attempted connections made by Messaging?

How is it going to check if it can't find a connection?

It's just telling you it can't do what you asked it to do.

I understand that it can't connect, but having to cope with that message popping up every 4 minutes (when I'm playing games) is dead annoying. I'd rather it just told me once and that was it.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I don't see many complaints of this, so either I've set it up incorrectly, or no one seems to be bothered by this problem. The only way I can remove those messages is by going into my POP3 account's advanced settings, and to switch off email checking altogether.
