Delete unnecessary categories in Outlook?

I am trying to delete categories from my outlook list on my device. I cannot figure out how to do it. When I follow the most obvious methods for deletion (the Add/Delete feature), it seems to work, but doesn't fully do the job. I still see the list when I open the "select" button; but each of the deleted categories includes the following "(not in category list)".

What do I do!?! I need these categories to be GONE (that I think were creations left over from my PalmOS device, but only show up here).

Thanks, acpharmd

Never mind, I figured it out - but it took over an hour. Anyway, I wouldn't mind if someone taught me how to delete this (now worthless) thread.
Thanks,

IMHO, no thread is worthless. You had a problem and you resolved it. Great!!!!

It would be nice if you would also post as to how you resolved it so that next time somebody else has the same problem they would not spend over an hour trying to do what you have already done, basically avoid re-inventing the wheel.
X50v (A03), Dell's 2200 mAh battery, Brando Ultra Clear Screen Protector, SanDisk 1GB SD Card, Kingston 2GB Elite Pro CF Card.
Sprite Backup, SBSH's Pocket Breeze, Contact Breeze, iLauncher and Pocket Weather.

Okay, a little delayed ('been traveling away from email for a while) but here was my not-so-scientific and very time-consuming method:
1. Open outlook on the PC
2. Open the calendar, notes, or tasks (may need to repeat for each program as you discover problems)
3. Click "view" scroll to "arrange by" select "current view" then select "category"
Breathe a sigh of relief now.
4. recategorize any messages, tasks, or notes that are in categories that you want deleted.

If you're like me, you once thought you needed a separate category for everything - now I think differently.

If anyone has a simpler solution - please share!
