PIE quits when I enter a new URL

I've been waiting to get an Axim X50v for about seven months now. I've been diligently reading this site for the same time.

I finally recieved it today after ordering the now famous offering of July 26th ($270 with Rhino case and extra battery).

Now I've come across a baffling problem. In PIE, if I hit a link, or try to go to a "favorite", PIE just quits. I'll go to the program that shows which programs are running and it will say nothing. So, PIE is really quitting. I know I'm connected to the internet (though Wi-Fi).

This is perplexing. Even if I Synced my "mobile" internet favorites with my Axim, I can't connect. I've tried entering URLs manually and PIE just quits. I'm baffled.

Oh, I put this in the software area as I'm pretty sure it's not because of my X50v. I'm just missing something somewhere. Thanks for the help.

I'm also going to note here that I just talked to my caddie friend in Scotland (Gullane) using Pocket Skype. Talked just fine, but still having that weird problem with PEI.

By the way, I'm blown away by Pocket Skype. It works great.

Does this happen to ALL your links/favorites? Could you provide an example? This has been known to happen with some sites that contain specific types of content; if you can browse most sites without a problem, then it's normal.

Nope, it happens to any of my favorites including Aximsite.com, pocketpc.com, google.com. Really, any new address I put in will cause PIE to quit.

Basically, the screen goes right to my home "page"--not PIE's home page. Then when I hit the switcher bar, PIE is no longer running.

The only thing different I did out of the box was to install Flash 6 from Macromedia.

Have you tried a soft reset and can you uninstall Flash?

Also, try clearing cache/temp files by going to Tools - Options.

Here's a weird thing. I was fiddling with WMP and hit the "globe" button. So PIE pops up and loads a page--great. So I try a couple of my favorites and those loaded too!

So things are going great and I figure I'll pop over to Aximsite.com and make my first post from my Axim X50v.

Then, PIE just quit on me again.

Thanks for the hints Gigi, I'll try both of your suggestions. This is a strange one for me.

flash 6 will do that when you go to a flash page -- is your "home page" a flash page? flash works with WM2003SE, but if you click on ANYTHING, it closes PIE...macromedia denys the existance of the bug

change your homepage back to the default. that should fix it.

Eve6grl02, You nailed it. Hy home page had a lot of flash on it. So i switched my homepage to mobilemsn.com and it works like a charm now. Thanks
