Turn off device from screen
Is there some way to turn off the Axim from the screen, instead of pressing the on/off button?

Thanks.

Yep. There are several apps out there that will work, mostly as part of a laucher or task-switcher utility. Have a look at some of those (e.g. Magic Button, Pocket Plus, iLauncher. I use Nice Start which is adds some features to the start-up password routine, and it also includes an off-button.

psShutXP is cool. It gives you the same little icon as NiceStart in the system tray and it's free.

Thank you for the advice. psShutXP seems exactly what I was looking for. I downloaded the program/zip file, but was not able to figure out how to install it. I read the instructions, but was not able to get the program file on the PPC. Nothing would happen when I clicked on the files opened by winzip and then ran ActiveSync. I would appreciate any advice.

Was it a .cab file that winzip extracted? It's been awhile since I installed it.

The file is a zip file. The unzipped files are .001, .002, and .003
files. I read the note by MetalHead and unfortunately did not understand his instructions. I don't know how to copy files on to the Axim using ActiveSync, don't know what BIS is, and don't know how to create a directory in the Axim. I am just learing the Windows CE system. I have been using Palm OS for many years, and have just transferred to the Axim.

Thanks again for the help.

How to install this software?
Download the psshutxp_eng.xscale.cab or psshutxp_eng.vga.xscale.cab for VGA version to your desktop PC and copy the file to your device using ActiveSync. On the device click on cab file in the file explorer. Setup procedure will start only on the device. You can find program in default folder - "\Program Files\psShutXP". After first run psShutXP creates two icons in "Program" folder psShutXP and Display Switch (bind it with your favorite button) and switch Display in any time while other program working.

Well he did get a simpler set of instructions.. Doesn't have to deal with Zip files, doesn't have the confusion about the 001 002 files etc and now has no need to understand BIS for this task (although all of that info would be useful to him anyway.

So I'd say he has been helped. And rmichiel if you still have problems then just say and I'll join the last dots together for you. Even if Yoda won't!
