Version WM03
My broad band provider says I need to update my version to recieve my email? I have WM03 & romA02. Is this true & how would I do it? I almost hate to screw with it since everything is working & WM05 coming soon.

I don't think he knows what he is talking about. But some more info form you would help as well.

Are you trying to access a web based email site? Trying to set up a pop3 for your email? What provider do you have? How far have you gotten and what error are you getting? ect. More info and we might be able to help.

My bb provider is Insight. I can access their site ok but when I click for webmail I get a page that says I need to download, explorer, netscape, mozilla and something else. When I called Insight, he did'nt seem to know a lot.

OK, that helps. The reason is because a lot of websites require a certain version of IE to view. They will have something on there saying "This site requires IE 5.5 or higher". The IE on the axim comes up as something like ver 5. To fix this there is a hack that will change the way the Axim IE shows up to websites. Making it look like ver 6. I use a program called Tweaks2k to do this. Tweaks2k does a lot of other things as well. But this is one of them. It is a great program, but not free. You may be able to find one that just does the IE hack for free. After this you will be able to view the site and shold have better luck.

As a side note, you can also set up the messaging on your Axim to send and receive mail. IMO, this is a much better option then a web based log in and does not require any hacks at all. Let me know if you are intersted in knowing how to do that as I also have Insight and can give you the settings to do so. Good Luck~

Here are the steps for setting up the messaging if you decide to go that route. Good Luck~

Open the messaging program (Start-> Messaging)

Select Accounts->New account

E-Mail Setup (1/4)
E-Mail address
Enter email address: Here you enter your full email address (ie RockStar@InsightBB.com)
NEXT

E-Mail Setup (2/4)
User Information
Your Name: Enter your name
User Name: Enter your username (the part before the @ in your email address)
Password: Enter your email password
Check the box for “Save Password”
NEXT

E-Mail Setup (3/4)
Account Information
Account type: Select POP3
Name: You can choose any name you would like to identify this account on your Axim
NEXT

E-Mail Setup (4/4)
Server Information
Incoming mail: put in ~ mail.insightbb.com
Outgoing mail: put in ~ mail.insightbb.com
Domain: leave blank
OPTIONS

Options (1/3)
Here I would NOT check the box to connect and check for messages every X# of minutes because if you do not have your wifi on and receiving a signal you will get an error message every X# of minutes.
Connection: Set to ~ Internet
NEXT

Options (2/3)
Check the boxes on this page for “Outgoing mail requires authentication” and also the box for “Use separate settings”
OUTGOING SETTINGS

Outgoing Server Settings
Username: Enter your ENTIRE email address (ie RockStar@insightbb.com)
Password: Enter your email password
Domain: Leave blank
Check box for “Save Password” and also check the box for “Require SSL for outgoing mail”
OK – upper right corner

NEXT

Options (3/3)
Pull down menu should be set to “Get message headers only”
Check box for “include” and it should say “2 k”
FINISH

Turn on your WiFi and connect.

Click accounts and select the account you just created, then click the send/receive button (two envelopes) and test it out.

There is not ~ just

mail.insightbb.com

Same for the internet thing. It is a pull down menu. Select INTERNET.

I got it to work! Thanks, Adam. Is there a way to get the emails to show attached pictures etc.? I have had this Axim for 3 months. Coming over from Palm it has been a little difficult. Is there a way to get my contacs/dates to sync, I would like to be able to CHOOSE from device to desktop or visa versa, not combine and get double everything. Any help appreciated

Glad to hear you got the email working. As for syncing your contacts and stuff there are settings in the options of ActiveSync that will let you set up the "rules" as to if the device over rules the desktop or vice versa when syncing with Outlook. Check it out, I am sure you will see how it works. Good Luck~
