I know it sounds like a ridiculous idea, but is there ANYWAY possible for me to purchase WM5 and simply download a soft copy instead of waiting for the CD.
Why? Because I live in the only English speaking country of South America getting an English version of WM5 is a bureaucratic process as DELL considers my country part of LATIN AMERICA. PLUS waiting on the CD to ship to this part of the world can take up to 3 MONTHS.
I wouldnt mind even if someone of you folks buy it and I repay you in someway... PAYPAL or Western Union etc.
If anyone can assist me please let me know. Of course too I have the x50v that seriously took me like 3.5 months to get :realmad:
Welcome to AximSite! You are not the only person with this problem. I am sure someone will be able to help. Good Luck~

A warning: there are bound to be illegal soft copies of the WM5 CD bouncing around on the file-sharing networks. You certainly don't want to install one of those.
Since these illegal copies may not be exaclty for the Axim X50v, it most likely will damage your handheld beyond repair. Most likely will flash your Axim into a very expensive paperweight.
How can companies be so stupid, if they don't offer downloadable copies of their software it means more piracy. If it wasn't for Handango and likes I would never purchase software for my PocketPC, no way would I be paying for windows mobile software on CDs, floating in mail for days and then arriving at more than double the original cost of it.

And even if it is the proper X50v version, they've probably included some spyware, viruses or other stuff that will wreck your PC.

That would be a killer argument.. and everyone would agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that theres loads of apps that handango sells floating around on the internet.
It seems those pirates (who keep saying they never hurt anyone) have ruined it for the rest of us

Wel it's because it weights 300MB. Have you tried downloading 300MB lately?
well... actually yes. works fine with dsl. i am a beta tester and we had to download a full version of a very popular windows software at least weekly and it was always around 500MB. no problem. I actually did it on a 56k dial up a few times but that took almost 2 days. but it worked. and as far as being able to pirate it, you can always copy anything you want and put it out there if you try hard enough so it doesn't matter that they let you download it or send you a cd. either way can be pirated with no problem. but that gets back to whether or not you have scrupples. no offense meant to you Jukov or anyone else, just a general statement in support of being able to download the software.
None taken, I think everything should be downloadable. Moreover I think it would help the sales , as it would be more of a impulse buying, as for pirating - there already are some copies out there , be sure of it

I've read NFOs from the dark side of the merchant world. Most are not that ill-intentioned.
Not that i'm supporting piracy but I hate it when people say you can get spyware from downloading pirated games. The only spyware and adware you can get is from downloading crappy software like KaZaa and stuff. In fact, there's a better chance you'd get your PC messed up from dling stuff like KaZaa than pirated software.
Why?
Think about it. If there was spyware and adware incorporated into pirated software then why are people bothering to even download it? Most people are doing the "try before you buy" and uninstall the software if they don't like it. Sometims demos arn't enough and thats why they go full version.

Rest in peace my beloved X30 :(
You took a lot of physical abuse... (lots of drops!)
well, if any of you guys are like me (i have been living in japan for some years now, and thus dont already have a US-based address)...
and so, what do i do?
try signing-up for "mail-forwarding services," ie., you get a US-based address where stuff gets sent, then they are sent to your foreign-based address... the nice thing though, is that unless stuffs get forwarded, they dont charge you...
