Has anyone who purchased an Axim X50 in late July/early August when they were including a free Windows Mobile 5.0 CD in october get their's yet?

I know it is only the fourth, but I'd hope to not wait until the 31st.

I ordered my Axim in July. I noticed that the Dell order page under My account did not show the status of the upgrade CD being shipped. I logged onto Dell Chat and believe I was successful in getting my name on a list. Apparently, Dell has a large backorder on the CDs. I was told to check back in 5 - 6 working days. The Dell Chat rep gave me a reference number so I would hope that everything is in order. Yet, I still have my doubts.

Makes me wonder, though, how much longer would I be waiting if I did not contact Dell Chat.

gotta love dell screwing over early adopters and having a time limit for when they give the free cds...

sorry dell/microsoft, im getting WM5, but i'm not giving you guys any money for it.

So how does one go about getting WM5 for free=? I purchased my X50V some time in July. I would search the forums, but there are so many threads on WM5 already!

If you were entitled to a free upgrade to WM5, it would show on your original invoice. If it's not there, you missed the promotion and you have to pay the $39.

they did this with the 2002 > 2003 upgrade on the x5 too and if you didn't buy it before they pulled you had to hunt real hard to find a legit copy. though there were some questionable ones on ebay....

Wow! A whooping $40 for the upgrade if you weren't lucky enough to get in on the deal? That's pretty steep.
