The ROM for the Imate K-Jam is available on Imate's web site and the K-Jam is a WM5 QVGA device. Unfortunately you need to have a K-Jam (or at least the IMEI of one) to register on Imate's web site. I haven't got a clue about how to extract the files from the ROM, but you can probably find someone with a K-Jam who can download that ROM at www.howardforums.com in the Pocket PC forum.

I'm dying to get OzVGA working on my Jasjar, so hopefully this is at least remotely helpful.

I happened to be looking at the DLLs in WM5 the other day, and the appearence of some that seemed to be related to web browsing caught my eye. I'm guessing that OzVGA switches all the low-res files for the high-res ones when it does its thing. But would it be possible to create a tool or an option that just affected the way Internet Explorer Mobile renders pages?

Yes! Most of my programs are open source or I'll give code snips if poeple ask... I also spend a lot of time on usenet and forums helping poeple... I'm not an expert but I atleast hope some poeple find what i have to write useful.

That what I like somuch about the internet,
You are always able to find poeple that want to help...
You just have to know who to ask or where to look.

IIRC there is some kind of file you can create to run one program in VGA mode... not sure if that still works on WM5

I believe that there are some programs out there that try to force apps to run in VGA mode, but I don't believe that any of them work with pocket IE. The problem is that pocket IE technically is already VGA enabled. It's just that Microsoft chose to support VGA in a completely moronic manner. The text does support VGA and you can set the font size to be fairly small, however, depending on which of the display modes you have set some or all of the pictures will display quadrupled in size. Despite the fact that this looks terrible and totally destroys the formatting of web sites there is no way to disable this in Pocket IE. I can't understand why on earth MS would produce something like this.

Brett

PS... if it sounds like I'm bitter... it's because I am

Believe me, I've railed against it plenty myself. Hence my interest in knowing whether it would be possible to rip the rendering engine out of the QVGA IE, and use it on a VGA device.
