When I install WM 5.0, is there an easier way to reinstall apps?

Like from a backup by Sprite or some other program, or is the only way to get my programs back, is to reinstall EVERYTHING? I guess this goes for all ROM updates....right?

People have reportedly had success with restoring from a backup using sprite after a ROM update, but after doing an OS update, re-install is the only way to go.
