What a long-awaited rip-off?

I must admit I'm a lot disenchanted with the new Windows Mobile 5. I started installing it and all my applications today around 10:00 a.m. and it's now 2:40 p.m. and I'm just starting to finish.

First of all, expect your axim to be slow, slow, slow after the change to WM5. It takes over your BIS and only uses RAM to run the applications. So far, I didn't think that would make that much difference, but was I wrong (I have an Axim X50v).

All this hoopla and extra money that I've paid for apps to run in WM5 was just a load of you-know-what. There is almost nothing that different about WM5 except for the persistent memory. If that's what you need, then go for it. Otherwise, save your $$$ and headache.

Just my first thoughts.

Best,
Scotty

[Edit: IE is better]

Beam me up, then...

I would certainly hope that the slowness is rectified with future ROM updates...

I had the same experience in slowness. The entire system seemed slow to me. I'll wait a few days to see if I can get used to it, otherwise, I'm going back to 2003 SE OS.

Ripoff?

For a list of all the ways WM 5 has failed to improve the
quality of life please press three.

I think I'll wait for more forum chat before I upgrade from
WM 2003SE to WM 5. And, why not? All's workin' well.

I just expected MORE somehow. It really is just a slower version of 2003SE. Same WM10, etc. My expectations were not met, but I'll probably keep the version and hope for better performance.

I've found out that the whole menu troubles I was having was having a duplicate folder in the SD card named "My Documents." Apparently, this confuses Griff and some other software into not looking at the SD/CF cards and only looking in the My Documents folder for files. My bad.

Sorry to burst any bubbles, just given my opinion (not that you asked me to, right?).

Best,
Scotty

P.S. I love the smiley beating up the smiley I certainly don't want to start a war. My first posts are supposed to be *peaceful* :-o

Ugh... Seems like WM5 really has a long way to go. I'm staying put... 2003 is stable. Thanks for the report.

I have money allocated for the wm5 upgrade, I think I still might get it, just to be familiar with it so I can be able to help others with their problems when using wm5 devices
