I found the upgrade went on fine, then I struggled with ActiveSync 4.0/4.1 for a day - I just couldn't get the thing to make a partnership over USB. None of the M$ AS troubleshooting was of any use as I don't run firewalls, traffic management software, VPN etc.
Anyway, cutting a long story short, I noticed that in Device Manager that the "Dell x50v" had the exclamtion mark against it. I clicked "Re-install driver" and let it find some files which turn out to be the USB drivers that AS 4.0/4.1 mentions as it's installing...
Why this binding of the USB drivers has to be a manual thing I do not know - but this worked on both my laptop and my home PC (both running XP).
Even though the upgrade to Mobile 5 went fine and my problem with AS4 is sorted - I am still going to roll back to WM2003 SE A05 as Mobile 5 will not see my SysOnChip CF Memory GPS card - which renders TomTom5.1 unusable on Mobile 5 for me :-(
I recall that the early WM2003 SE ROMS from Dell provided very intermittent CF compatibility, so I'll wait for the next Mobile 5 release...
Regards,
Stuart.
