Well, I had my Axim at school today and when I went to turn it on, nothing happened. I didn't have it "locked." I had to do a soft reset before the unit would respond. I thought it was odd and quickly turned it off and then on again--no problems.

About a half hour later when I got home, I tried to turn it back on, and the same thing happened--no turn on. The device was first locked and then a predetermined amount of time passes. I unlock the device (using the switch) and then try to turn the unit on and it won't turn on. Still, I have to perform a soft reset and wait 45 seconds or whatever.

A brief history: I put my Axim X50v in its cradle last night to charge and immediately my laptop (Dell Inspiron 9100) just shut off completely--no warnings. Then, when removed my Axim from its cradle this morning, all I got was a white screen--non responsive. A soft reset fixed the white screen.

I just made CalliGrapher not the default input device for reset and will test is this makes a difference.

Does WM5 go into a hibernation mode that I'm not aware of? There wasn't a manual that came with WM5--just a new X50v manual that covered some of the basics of the X50v.

I have the exact same experience after my upgrade to wm5. i was showing someone after i hadn't use mine for an hour or so and it was lockedup. It happened again with the power on in my pocket. I only found out because my battery was dead after a full charge this morning and only about 10 minutes of "actual" use.


I'm also now noticing that while it's on the cradle turned off (so it will recharge faster), it keeps turning itself on every 5 minutes or so. So far my first impressions of wm5 are not "overwhelming".

I'm having the exact same problem - happened twice yesterday and 2 or 3 times the day before that. When the unit is non-responsive, if I put it on the cradle it turns on but just shows a white screen. A soft reset is the only way to fix it. And given how much longer a soft reset takes with WM5, it becomes a huge pain in the butt.

Of those, PocketPlus is the only one that's running all of the time.

If there isn't a fix for this problem, I'm going to roll back to 2003se. So far, WM5 isn't worth the hassle.

remove your sd cards and install your apps and plug-ins one at a time to see which ones are not perfectly written for WM5. This will fix your problems (all of them). Good luck.

I read about others have this problem, as myself. They removed their SD and CF cards. I did the same since I was also getting lockups about 2-3 a day. After removing my cards, my Ax hasn't locked up once, going on 6 days later. Until Dell releases A02 for WM5 I'm leaving my cards out except during use.
