Just Downgraded Back to WM2003!

After waiting weeks to upgrade, I installed my new WM5 OS and everything went smoothly. I did run into the "won't turn on problem, but I did have SD and CF cards installed that I removed. No problem since. BUT!

I find that MS has quietly dropped support for Access databases. Now I can understand that they may have good reasons for moving to a more resilient database and that there is only so much room in ROM, but to not release support in the form of a downloadable package to support "legacy" programs is careless to say the least. My PDA is used for time billing with an Access database.

Yes, I hear rumors that this download is coming. But really! The DLL files already exist. Until MS releases support for Access databases or my vendor upgrades (which will cost $$), I am stuck in WM2003.

How did you downgrade? I am doing the same thing, can't get it to sync with outlook. Everything takes forever to install. This a total joke!
I found a link to a file and the link does not work now. Do I need a special file to downgrade?

DITTO...

how did you downgrade. I have hard reset 4 times and still no programs show in the programs list. Nothing happens when I click the message link on the Today screen. My Windows dropdown only shows Programs and Settings, nothing else!

There was a link for a special file that put it back. I went to the Dell web site and I can't bring it up. I don't know why, but it no longer lists Windows Mobile as an option. I wonder what that means? If I see it again I will post the link! Sorry I can't be more help at this moment.

Edit: I went back and it was there. I copied the link and tried it once. It worked, so I came to post it. I tried it once again and it didn't work nor could I bring it up on their site. It may be a Dell web server problem. You might want to keep trying.

Here are links to the utilities from Dell to downgrade. MAKE SURE THAT THE DOWNLOAD PAGE SHOWS THE CORRECT MODEL OF YOUR DELL (X50 OR X50V)!
