Problem Installing MObile 5.0

I tried to install my upgrade disks for Mobile 5.0 and could not get past active sync 4.0 which when installed would not sync Contacts, tasks & calendar? Tried to go back to 3.8 no luck never even got to install mobile 5.0.
Can anyone help Dell coundn't they had me hard reset my unit which not will not sync?

There's a few threads on this, so search first, but a quick check would be see if your firwall is blocking it. I was unable to sync and found out it was the firewall.

I know that I had problems installing wm5 on my Axim x50v. It look like it was going to work but then I got CRC errors. I rolled back my USB setting on my desktop computer from 2.0 to 1.1 and everything went fine.
