Steps to upgrade to WM5

Can anyone post the steps required/recommended for an upgrade to WM5? I'm trying to keep most if not all of my applications and data intact if at all possible.

Dell hasn't yet given me any info about my upgrade disc, so I'm grabbing it off a torrent. I hear Dell has a special utility for upgrading?

Thanks,
Allen

Allen,

Considering all the trouble that's been reported about WM5 I'd suggest you defer your upgrade for awhile. WM2003 is very stable and unless you have something in WM5 you just got to have you should stay put. There's a weekend coming up - you don't want to use it all up reconfiguring your Axim, do you?

Allen, it shouldn't be a problem keeping your data intact since you can just resync it back from your desktop. Your apps, however, should be manually reinstalled back. You will most like not be able to restore from a backup; as well, it's not a great idea when you are upgrading Operating Systems.

There's a pretty detailed set of steps included on the upgrade CD, plus the application tells you everything you need.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I checked out some of the many (I didn't expect so many bugs!) threads about the problems currently in WM5. Wow. I think hold off on the upgrade. Might as well wait for the CD anyway.

Thanks again.

I would wait.

Speaking of rollbacks, you guys are right on the apps. They must be installed manually with this kind of deal. If this had just been a hard reset restores are easy, but something this major, rollbacks are a little more work!
