Maybe I'm completely missing something, but in the previous versions of activesync you could perform back-ups. 4.0 seems to get rid of the back-up capability all together, is this true?

And what is "schedule" for. I can't seem to even click on it to check it out. It seems to be disabled.

I noticed the same thing. Maybe one day there will be an activesync that actually works. :) Let me know if you figure out how to backup.

The backup option is no longer available. Your current option is the utility Dell has included on the Axim itself (at least I'm fairly sure the most common 3rd party utility, Sprite Backup, does not yet work with WM5).

I think the Schedule option only works with an Exchange server and possibly over a VPN.
