Not sure how to help you but i load much bigger (5-10mb) pdf files in less than a minute. Maybe close all programs running before opening the pdf?

If you're using VGA mode, try turning that wrapping function off, and also make sure ActiveSync is not reformatting your PDFs to add a huge number of tags. Ditto the previous response on not needing that kind of time to load a PDF file on my x51v....

So that's why there are so many weird symbols inside my ebook! How do I make activesync not format my PDF file?

I'm not in front of a computer with ActiveSync on it this weekend, but you do this on the host Windows PC, by opening ActiveSync, then I think Tools->Options->Rules->Conversion Settings->Desktop to Device, select the entry for Acrobat, and set it to something like ".pdf, no conversion."

I've turned off the tagging. I've not seen it work well (some files it completely destroys and makes unreadable), and when you have the hi-res mode turned on, the original form works fine (at least for me). The tagging just makes the file bigger and take longer to load, in my opinion.

So...now my PDF files look *gorgeous*. Thank you!
Can anyone else confirm, though, that besides the splash screen being messed up, the options windows for Acrobat also look funny in VGA mode? That's happening to me, at least.

yes the menu icons are about 1/4 the size they should be. small price to pay for such nice out put. frankly adobe should release a vga friendly version :)

Thanks! This is ... not quite what I meant. What I meant was that, in addition to the buttons at the bottom being too small, some of the options windows do not render correctly, with most of the components coming out at the normal (large) size, and a couple of components being rendered at VGA resolution, appearing in the wrong part of the options window, and being overlapped by other things. In other apps I tried to force to VGA awareness, sometimes this also means that there will be text boxes that are too small*(heightwise) to see the text in them, because the box size changes, but the font does not.
That particular thing doesn't happen in Acrobat, but an example of what does happen would be the General options tab, top half. Forgive me -- I haven't gotten to how to do screenshots yet. But the top half, where it says "tap screen for prev..." has two images, showing how the screen will move depending on where you tap, and a box that says something about the next page. The two icons are small (shock) and the box is underneath one of them, instead of off to the right.
Ahem...perhaps I should try to figure out screen-grabbing! :)
EDIT: Here we go...
The bottom half of the screen is issue free -- it's the top half that concerns me. Do any of you get this too?

Good find, other than some maps not displaying correctly, everything else looks a lot better. :)

how do you do this? I put it in the same folder and nothing happens. It works when I do it with Tweaks2k2.net though.
