A few questions. What are the names for Excel & Word? As best I can find, it is MSPXL and MSWORD, but I cannot locate such files anywhere. Where are the exe files located so that I can use the .0409.MUI on them?

Does this also work on the main today screen? If so, how and where do I apply it?

all programs included in your ROM from MS are already HI RES Aware. In another words what you see is what you get.

For those who run a non-english/non-us version of Windows:
The ciphers 0409 in the filename stand for the hexadecimal country code your windows is using.
In order to get the .MUI patch work on non-us versions of Mobile 5.0/2003SE you have to change the code in the filename according to the language code of your OS. The Code can be found out by looking in the registry (e.g. with PHM Registry Editor) under \HKLM\MUI\SysLang. For example, a german Windows will show the value 1031 (0x000407).

So, to get a working patch for Acrobat Reader on a german Windows you have to change the filename to AcroRd32.exe.0407.mui.

the easier way is using Tweaks2K2 :D
it will check what is your language code and rename the file according to that code. ;) It never fails ;)

i had this working, and decided to factory reset my wm5 a04 x51v. since then i've gotten everything up and running, but for some reason the file just doesn't take anymore to enable vga on acrobat reader. i copy it into \program files\adobe\reader with the acrord32.exe. it's named properly, but acrobat starts up in QVGA instead. any ideas?

Did you remember to disable security? These hacks will not work unless you do.

well, what's interesting is i never took that step before and it worked fine. i am certain i didn't use setsecurity, it wasn't even transferred to my device. i assumed it was just to disable warnings - i'll try it out.

Had you run Tweak2k on your other device? It automatically disables security the first time you run it.

no. the only things i had installed were basics - opera, adobe reader, etc. no 'hacks' other than the phm tools so i could paste a wpa key in for wireless. and i had that installed before adobe reader the second time around too.

PocketStreets works too

Just thought I'd mention that this trick works wonders for PocketStreets as well. Looks so much better.

Very Cool!!! Have been missing Avantgo since I switched over the axim x51v from palm T3 about a month ago. Really love the Axim and ppc environment but was missing avantgo in a format that was readable.

Thanks for excellent directions/guidance.
