Given the apparent problems WM5 seems to cause on the x50v, I'm probably not going to upgrade my OS. Has anyone returned their un-opened upgrade cd to DELL for a refund?

I don't mind change as long as I'm not around when it happens.

I'm waiting for my copy, so I can put it in a drawer for a couple of months and then get the benift

I'm not sure there will ever be a benefit. Based upon the posts I've read, I don't think the x50 / x51 was made to run WM5. It seems like DELL jumped on the WM5 bandwagon too soon (me too I guess ).

I would only think about doing that if I decided to never upgrade. After all, once Dell gets the problems ironed out, to upgrade, one would need to have WM5 on his/her device before installing the update. That would require having the CD, so I'd have to get it sometime. I'd rather just leave it sitting somewhere, waiting for an update, then to return it and then have to buy it again later.

I gurss there is something of a gamble there... but at the moment it still looks like good odds to me.
Plus Dell may pull it from the market like the X5 upgrade. So it's nice to have it, if i ever need it. Bottom line is though I can live with 2003SE very nicely.

Such is the great OS created by Microsoft & Palm. Guess having the best of both worlds was not such a great thing after all.
MWM5 is to PPC what WindowsME was to PCs.

Just an update on my attempts to return my WM5 cd. I called dell customer service and "Jason" (from India) told me he transfer me to customer care. After 15 min. on hold, I was inexplicably cut off. Dell should do a better job keeping its existing customer base happy. Oh well, another $50 down the drain.

I'm not going to return anything that was free to me to begin with. Why would I want to do that? I am thinking that I am going to wait until they come out with a patch before installing it to my x50v however. This is all a moot point because Dell hasn't even sent mine to me yet. I'm still waiting...
