wisbar beta running very slow

How is the latest beta version of wisbar working for you guys?

Mine is very very slow, even with the WAD plugin disabled. Any tips to speed it up a bit?

I (ignorantly) installed the trial of the 2.4.0.1 version of Wisbar on my x51v and, while it ran for the most part it would occassionally quit w/o notice or lock-up and fail to respond.

HOwever, I still liked wisbar so much that when I decided to buy it, I researched here and found out about the beta version and installed that. Both the beta and last official release seem to run about the same speed for me although I've never run this app on another PPC so I don't have a basis for comparison.

I can say that my install doesn't seem to have any noticeable lag and the beta runs much more stably than the latest official release.

yea I am using 2.4.1.12 beta, the start menu has at least a second delay after every tap (often its also 2-3 sec delay), and with the WAD plugin enabled its barley usable.

Do you have 'Cache program icons on startup' checked and 'Don't cache background images' unchecked. These two options can make a huge difference in the speed of the display of the start menu. You can find these options under 'Start Menu Settings'. If you do it this way WA2 will initially load slower, but the menu should be quick

I am having difficulty w/WA .12 on my X50v/WM5:
1-During install had a msg: "Install unsuccessful..Trust App.."; Instead of using Tweaks2k2, I just soft reset and launch the install gain.

2-This time it went thru and completed the install but I never got te OK on the right top corner. And the message saying the install is complete just stays there..BTW another message came up saying WB changes the color, requires soft reset and WB start default sound happens in the background..

3-At his point I decide to soft reset, after I got the same message about color changing and requires soft reset, I can't not tap on OK...And just hung there...

This is my 2nd attempt after a hard-reset due to WA .12 - I save another H/R this time thanksfully, I did not check "start WA after soft-reset" option..

Any thoughts/recommendation? Should I install Tweaks2K2? and start again?

BTW, previously WA .11 was somewhat OK on my device. But only the top today bar is skinned, non of other app buttons are...

I wanted to post this on WA forum but their server is incredibly slow.. :realmad:

I don't know if it was you or someone else, but these issues were posted on the forums over at Lakeridge. And, I posted an answer, too.

Basically, you need to install the WM5 version. Since you mentioned the color changing, this indicates to me that you installed the WM2003/SE version as the WM5 CAB file does nothing to your colors (the code is not compiled into that version at all). If you install the version that is not right for your device, you actually run the risk of a hard-reset because WisBar uses several internal data structures that are different with each version of the OS and playing around with the wrong versions can cause some serious results as I'm writing and reading from unknown areas of memory.

Chris, Yes, It was me. I just downloaded the CAB file instead of the installer .exe. It works fine now. Thx! :approve:
