I'm downloading the downgrade as I type. I used the Ratoc CF to USB adapter on my X50v with 2k3. With 5.0 the adapter is a paperweight. I have problems with screen alignment also. Very very disappointed. Good Luck to all.

In case some of you run into the problem where your system becomes so slow to the point of non-usability after the downgrade, follow these steps.
1. Run downgrade. If unbelievable slowness results, go to step 2.
2. Start to run upgrade to WM5 again.
3. When you are asked to perform your initial reset during the first few minutes of upgrade - perform the reset, then stop.
4. You can either keep it like it is (stay with WM2003) or continue to try WM5 again. Either way...
5. Your PDA should work blazingly fast now.

This may be a stupid question, but would the downgrade be good for x51v as well?
If I downgrade to WM2003SE what is the deal with the memory - is it always volatile? (Haven't used 2003 before).
Thanks
.

I have an x51 with WM5 installed, can I convert to WM2003SE as my wife has spent £200+ on a Tomtom bluetooth and it's not compatible, as I've recently found out. Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

I don't know of anyone who has downgraded an X51, there was some talk about it. From what I understood, the x51 doesn't have a backup battery which could be a problem when it comes to removing the battery as you would lose all your data?
As for the TomTom not being compatible, they said they were going to release an update but haven't given a timescale. I know how you feel, I use my PDA for GPS so I downgraded but I have an x50v so it wasn't a problem.

It's sad to see so many people downgrading. Good job, Microsoft! I'm about to join the ranks since my Axim freezes a handful of times a day with the upgrade when it worked perfectly before.

To second what others here have alluded to: Don't. There are several great features to WM5, but the buggy nature of the OS, or at least Dell's implementation just aren't worth the BS.
I have "re-upgraded" to WM2003 and have my Axim back.
OBTW, the "downgrading process is pretty involved, have patience.

After downgrade from WM5 to WM2003, my Axim x50v was working soooo slow for while. I had to perform hard reset several times... There was a white screen and nothing... Then screen aligment curson was moving slow. Finally it works again...

I tried running it out of curiousity and it appears to only work on the x50 series.

Yes, after the files are extracted, a few warning boxes come up about backing up your data and then an alert comes up saying this only works on the x50 and x50v. I'll put up some screenshots tomorrow when i am at work.
