I have downgraded back to WM2003 using the link from here - thanks for making it so easy.

I have noticed one thing, however. I no longer have any notes to accompany my tasks - they are still present in Outlook, but not on my x50v, and it will not allow me to enter anything into the notes sheet. Any thoughts?

Did you tell AS to synchronize notes?

Yes I told it to synchronise but nothing happened. I actually got it sorted now - I did a soft reset and not only could I enter notes into tasks, but I could see all the ones which were present on the PC, but had not been on the PDA - and that was without syncing! Then found the same issue with writing notes to go with calendar appointments which again was solved by a soft reset - it seems that I had to try using it, and then then soft reset to get things to work. Strange.

Wow, I have done the downgrade and am having more problems now then I did with WM5 (if you can believe that). I hope this fix works. IT takes over 15 mintues to hard reset my PDA.

My goodness, how can Dell mess up so incredibly badly?

i actually like WM5, i dont have any problems reported with others. However, i downlgraded because the Dell GPS dosent work without a 100$ upgrade........ i dont wanna pay that much on top of the 249 origional cost.

I also downgraded a couple of days ago. I finally gave up when Pocket Streets quit working. :realmad:

I will not go back to WM5 until I see some vast improvement over how it works now

Hey everybody. I use my X50v primarily for photos & videos, sometimes the internet, accessing my desktop computer files, and occasionally sync it to my Outlook email at home. With all that I've read so far, do I keep 2003SE? If not, how do I get WM5 and does it cost me? Thanks in advance for your help/suggestions.

You can purchase the WM5 upgrade from Dell, however I'd be inclined to stick with WM2003SE for now.

I also had problems with PocketStreets, and it was the reason I downgraded. Glad to know I'm not the only one. I probably should have documented the issue, and sent it in to MS somewhere... I doubt it was a Dell issue.

There were quite a few things I like over on the WM5 side, but I was not happy with the speed of my little machine. When I finally finished my downgrade and installed my software... WOW!!! It seems so incredibly fast now compared to what I put up with for over a month now with the WM5 upgrade. Also, a few annoying bugs disappeared like being pegged at 624, the soft keys (no matter what they say this is NOT a feature) and not able to use DUN for some unknown reason. I will be waiting for awhile before I try moving away from 2003SE again.

yep... downgrade for me too. I was hoping a WM5 fix would be released, but that prospect seems less likely now. Oh well. WM2003 wasn't all that bad!

YES!

Thanks, guys! WM5 was killing me, crashed every single program I'd ever installed, and then had the audacity to freeze up or give random memory errors at least half a dozen times a day.

Sooooo glad I found this thread. Welcome back, 2003!

I've done downgrade to my original WM 2003SE from WM 5.0 and am happy now :) .
With that WM 5.0 I always had error msgs from Odyssey Client (even after I turned it off and used SocketCom's Wi-Fi Companion instead), my Enfora GPRS/GSM CF Card didn't work at all...
Now my Axim x50v is back to normal.
Thanks for the "downgrade" links.
I do not recommend to upgrade Dell Axim x50v to WM 5.0 unless they improve it.
By the way WM 5.0 works perfectly on I-mate Jarsar.
