help finding installed programs in WM5
Hi, I upgraded last night, and my initial feelings were very positive. My X50v was snappy and responsive, and this morning my battery still showing 98% out of the cradle.
I first off tried to install TomTom5 following the guide I found in the forums, but following the installation, I could not find the execute file. I then noticed the CF had dissapeared, so after doing a soft reset, which brought it back, I tried to install the PH registry program so as to hack the registry for this problem which again I found within the forum, but though it appeared to install OK, I could not find it on my PDA? I attempted a repair, then deinstalled and reinstalled, noticing it gave me no opportunty to decide where to put it, (that may be OK but not sure), but again could not find it. I did a hard reset, and then found a 'Programs' folder had appeared on the SD, and in it I found the Navigator folder which now contained the execute file for TomTom, but double clicking on it resulted in an error message. Has anyone else had these problems? Tried again, but still no sign of the PH registry editor. I have had no problems syncing with Activesync 4 that came with it. Any help or advice would be appreciated, I am not an advanced user so please keep it simple. kind regards to all, this is a great forum.

Well after hours of searching, re installing and searching again for the execute files or start icons for my newly installed programs, I gave up and returned to 2003se with no trouble, restored using my sprite, and now back to normality.
I will wait until I things have settled and more knowledgeable poeple than I have resolved the issues.

Did you install PHM Editor to "Device." If you install it to the SD or CF cards, it seems to indicate that it installed OK, but then it doesn't work and cannot be found in the list of Programs. When this happened to me, I removed it and reinstalled to "Device". It then worked OK.

Many thanks for that, it probably was the trouble with the registry editor, I will keep your tip in mind when I eventually reinstal WM5. I did have other problems, as I mentioned I could not find the TomTom execute file, then it appeared after I did a hard reset, so I perhaps was a little overly concerend files were dissapearing. I will try again next week after I have read some more info in the various threads on WM5.
Thanks again. Brian | |||
