So I was able to update to wm5 on mt x50v yesterday, and I've been using it for 24 hours. I used some of the tips posted at http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=104366 and everything has been working GREAT. No battery drain problem (I left my Axim out for 7 hours and it was still at 100% battery power.) The operating system runs noticeably faster than WM2003SE, the menus snap up instantly and programs run quite quickly. IE Mobile and Word Mobile have some noticeable improvements. CAB files can be installed to your choice of location without a cab installer and cabs are not deleted.
In short, I'm loving WM5. I feel bad for the people having problems with it, because it's working perfectly for me, I even have OzVGA running.

I'm not installing WM5.0 until I see a fix for bluetooth. I've seen fixes for most of the major annoyances I had when I was using WM5.0 but bluetooth is still the last unfixed problem. v710 users unite! We want DUN!

Did the v710 have the dun profile in 2003SE?

Well, the battery level is usually at 100% when you first check it. You need to sit there and watch it for 5-10 minutes for the thing to settle down. Trust me, it will drop fast, and that will be your true battery level. While you are waiting for the battery meter to settle, check the processor speed. Is it always at 104? or stuck at 624? Again, sit and watch the processor speed for a few minutes. Do this exercise 5-10 times a day, then you'll truly know your battery drain condition.

Is the BT stack on the V710 that different from other phones such that the X50V under WM5, A01, will not successfully pair?

Have had my X50v running WM5 for a little over two weeks now. So far so good, I have been lucky enough to avoid all the problems people have been experiencing. No white screen, never lost my CF card, no memory errors, no hot battery/battery drain, and almost every single application I used on 2003SE works fine on WM5.
Only problems I've had are the filesys.exe hogging resources on rare occasions, and the Microsoft bluetooth stack (which I consider to be more of a poor choice by Dell than a problem) So far, I'm pretty happy with WM5...touch wood...
