unrecognized USB device

If I'm disconnected for a while and then re-connect to my PC it won't sync and eventually comes up with an un-recognized USB device error. I did the AS fixes on the Network services and I'm using 4.1. If I do a soft reset it comes up fine.

Any ideas?

OK, I'm able to duplicate the problem to when ever the device powers off. I soft reset and it will sync fine all day until I either tuen the device off or it times out. When I turn it back on, it won't sync anymore. Interestingly enough I was playing around with the Process list in airscanner and it will show the processes after a soft reset but once I power off and back on it does not show any processes executing even though the device is operating normally (some what). Has any one had a similar expirence or have some ideas on this?

D/L'ed a process viewer yesterday and found that the rapiclnt.exe will not load after the device has been off. This prevents the device from being recognized by the PC when I reconnect the cable. Any ideas on what would cause that?

My next step would be to hard reset which I am reluctant to do.

Please comment.

Well here is what I did to solve it.

Hard Reset
Load all programs back on, now works fine. I tried to restore the backup I did before the reset and it restored fine but I ended up with the same problem. The only difference from my clean install and where I was two days ago is that I did not do the registry tweeks and I did not do the Activesync trick of making a dummy server and changing the frequency to manual on the syncs. I don't know if this was really the problem or not but it is now working fine.
