You can download the utility from Dell, but beware... I tried going back, and my Axim was insanely slow. It took me 20 minutes just to get through the "align screen" prompt at the startup. I had to switch back to WM5 in the end, anyway.

I guess I was lucky. My switch back to 2003SE was pretty quick and painless. I'm using an Axim x50v. Mine seems to be running better than before the upgrade, too.

I also experienced the unnerving slowness after reverting back to WM2000SE - I watched as the screen slowly drew the crosshairs and then moved it, and then drew it again during the align segment. I just puttered along, and after finishing the setup and a reset, I was back to normal speed. Whew!

I after sick of dealing with wm5 i also have switched back to 2003se. My Axim was taking longer than my PC to start up (over 1 minute) and when it fianlly did start up there would be numerous errors and i would have to soft reset and start the process all over again. I think I will wait until their is a rom upgrade for wm5 before i reinstall, plus there isn't that much new and wm2003se works just fine :)
P.S. thanks darkdestroyer for the link

I agree with all of you after 2 weeks at 5.0 and numerous soft resets, lockups, BT not working, cpu utilization maxing out and drained battery. I reverted back to 20003, it was painless, quick and guess what ? everything reloaded works fine. I will wait until ms and dell come out with the next version before I take the plunge again. Thanks for all the info on the various tweaks, I tried alot of them but after all was said and done. I'm back to 20003 thansks

The slowness can be overcome! Once you've downgraded (and things get extremely slow), start to upgrade again. At the first reset during the upgrade process, test your PDA. It should run super fast again. At this point, you can continue on with the upgrade or leave it back on WM2003. You'll probably have to end-task (cntl-alt-del) on your PC though, to get out of the setup box.
