Let it sit, there is a program conflict that seems to be causeing the "hang up". Did you install programs on after the update? This seems to be a large contributor to the problem. This is also the main reason why I went back to 2003SE.

Plug it in and just let it sit there for awhile. If you installed programs, check for compatability. If you still encounter the problem, either do a search on the forums, or revert back to 2003SE, the file can be found on the Dell support page for your product.

I highly recommend searching the forums and researching wm5. There is alot of info on what might be going wrong, and what to expect. Maybe you will find something that you did that caused the issue to be worse then what it would have. If so, post in one of the appropriate threads to help others. Just a thought and hope this helps...

I actually call dell support and they have no idea about what is going on...anyway after she was working (my Axim is she...) I downgrade to wm2003se and was kinda slow, then after the primary setting was fine, so I upgrade again to wm4, and was just fine, but the BT doesn't pair my phone and does not recognice it, and several issues with the active sync..So, I downgrade it againg. and got again slow..but is working fine, I had a lot of fun doing it..

It is fun if you have the time to complete the mission. I hope to try again sometime late next week.

my experiences

I spent a couple hours monday doing the upgrade on my x50v. Everything went fine. Installed a few basic apps and it looked ok. Yesterday morning it locked up with the "memory error" message and after any kind of soft- or hard-reset, mine hangs at about 30% of the bootup progress bar. I left it overnight in the cradle and it never moved past that part. I've removed the battery and charged it separately, while leaving the ax to die a slow death with no battery for a good half day. Same results when I reset.

This was my experimental device, so it's not as critical as it would be for alot of people, but for now I'm expecting the worst and that it is DEAD. Too bad too because I really liked the new OS performance-wise and it was definitely a smoother setup with the sync between my home and work computers. Although for the life of me, I can't understand why the "upgrade" to WM5 causes me to lose the feature of wireless sync (but that's another rant I suppose).

I chatted with Dell support today and they said there is a upgrade being release for download on the dell site on 11/18. It sounded like they are being flooded with issues on this (obviously). My concern is how the HELL am I going to flash the rom when the thing won't even boot up!?!?!

Another casualty in the great WM5 masacre,
Erik
