Question wm5 axim51v cannot remove unrecognized program

I have installed a medical program called "clinical pharmacology" that I now realize is not WM5 compatible; however, I did manage to install it and it is working. The only problem is that I attempted to install twice and now I have 2 icons for one program. I thought that I would use the "remove programs" to remove it and try again to install with 1 icon, but this program won't recognize it (again confirming that this isn't designed for the OS).

Is there a way to run an uninstall when the program is not recognized by the "remove programs" program?

If you just have an extra icon in the program list you want to remove, use a file explorer to make your way to \\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ and delete the extra shortcut by holding the stylus on the file name and selecting delete from the popup.

Is there a way to change a program shortcut's destination? I have iGuidance and just updated to Windows Mobile 5.0. One of the executable iGuidance files is named "iGuidance" and the other "iGuidanceVGA". The iGuidanceVGA program runs just fine with WM5, but iGuidance.exe does not run, giving an error "either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found."

So I'd like to change the start menu's link to the "VGA" version. Any help with this?? I'd gladly hack the registry to do it, if I only knew how.

You can change the shortcut with some third party software (Total Commander gives you the option and I think Resco will also do it) but you could also just create a new one. Delete the current one, the go to the executable, tap and hold on the name and select copy. Then make your way back to the Programs folder and "Paste as shortcut."

Why didn't I think of that?!?!

It's just not as intuitive as say WinXP... I'm still getting used to there being no properties menu in the click-and-hold popup menu.

I did as you said, erased the old shortcut. Then copied the new program .EXE target and did a "Paste Shortcut" in \\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\. Fixed everything!

WM5 is really starting to come around for me (thanks to aximsite.com, not the developers!)
