Officially pressing panic button...AS and WM5

OK. I did a search on the site and did not find anything useful. This is my problem. I have the 50V and upgraded to ActiveSync 4.0. I then installed WM5. At first, it asked me to establish a new connection for ActiveSync. I did so. I tried to sync and it just sat there “looking for changes”. I stopped the sync after several minutes of doing nothing and did a soft reset. Put it back on and it wanted me to sign in as “Guest”. Took Ax back out of cradle and deleted partnership with ActiveSync. Set up new partnership. Tried sync again, no luck. Rebooted computer, no luck. Hard reset, no luck. Another soft reset, no luck. Now ActiveSync will not even pull up. I currently own a Dell x50v paper weight.
What can I do?

update...somewhat.
I can add programs to my Axim. There seems to be a problem with "connecting". It just sits there "looking for changes" or "connecting" until it times out. However, it looks like my calander information is coming over. Where would the conflict be.
I tried to "Chat" with Dell support and they asked me if I had this problem before the upgrade. I told them "no". Their solution: downgrade.
Thanks a lot.

Heh...ActiveSync was changing my device name. I thought I'd stick with WM5, but I had enough and rolled back this morning.

yup - same problem you've got (plus a lot more with WM5 :pullingou). I often couldn't get AS to move beyond the synchronizing stage or sometimes even beyond trying to establish the connection. And it would never shut off even after trying to force it through Memaid, Wisbar, or MagicButton. Always running, always hogging resources. I even tried the setup a dummy Exchange server connection trick with no luck.
So, as of 1 hr ago, I'm once again the happy owner of a WM2003/A05 Axim. Everything is fast and responsive again (without devoting 4 to 8MB to cache RAM), AS works like it should again, and basically my PDA is usefull again. :)
Just follow the revert instructions on the Dell website exactly as posted. Good luck!

I had the EXACT same problem. I deleted the partnerships on the computer (through ActiveSync) and deleted them on the PPC, and then then (after disabling my firewall) it worked. But I have other problems now.
