Guys, I would not be so quick to think Microsoft reads these forums. As a person who once worked at MS, I know we never read outside forums as most feedback was not in a constructive form and only angered the developers while reading some of the comments. I know they monitor their own support forums and only would check forums such as this when they purposely leaked code with the intention of receiving feedback. If they are watching this forum, it is more for the feedback on Activesync 4.1.

I talked with Shirley Thomas at Dell last night (I have the transcript) and she told me all the customers will have their upgrade cd's by the end of the month. I'm assuming this will be an upgraded version since it is taking so long.

Cool Don't hurry the WM 5.0 upgrade too much

After several hours doing the upgrade to WM 5.0 - Activesync 4.0 and then 4.1 still don't work unlessI drop my firewall (Bullguard. My GPS doesn't work (after dropping an additional $100 for Dell GPS - NAVTEQ upgrade). I'm thinking of downgrading until they get this fixed. My NEW (recieved Aug 23, 2005) x50v has given me more trouble after the upgrade. Yet don't get me wrong there are several aspects of WM 5.0 i want, I just want my x50v to work more.

just my $0.02
I got mine about 3 weeks ago and mine is WM5.0 not magneto. Any issues I've had have been caused by third party software and problems with my router. Oh, it won't sync with Outlook 2003 but i don't use Outlook anyway so I don't care. I must be the only WM5.0 customer that is happy! All I want is support for Bluetooth stereo headphones and thats job done for me.

Don't get your hopes up on WM5se. They work on "se"s - second editions - years in advance sometimes. The most we should hope for are ROM updates from Dell or the occassional patch from Microsoft.

so what is the answer to the battery and memory problems?

i am having all the same issues described:

my battery now lasts about an hour. no more vga options, have to soft reset about 8 times a day... plus, i really miss all the bluetooth options. i used to have so many bluetooth options, now i dont

i wonder if the rom will actualy fix these things.

Exclamation

You are 100% on track, I learned about this site from a Dell Tech Support dude, when I called about my problems with WM 5.0

11/22/2005 02:39:19PM Eric: "Do you have any known bugs with bluetooth not pairing with Motorola V710?"
11/22/2005 02:39:48PM Agent (Syed_0116992): "Eric, I would suggest you to downgrade it back to the previous version of windows mobile."
11/22/2005 02:40:38PM Eric: "I have done that, and that works... I just wanted to see if there is a known issue, or a workaround that will allow this to work with the mobile 5.0"
11/22/2005 02:43:39PM Agent (Syed_0116992): "Eric, the issue is known and that was the reason I requested you to downgrade it to the previous version."
11/22/2005 02:44:12PM Eric: "ok. should i just watch for a fix on the dell site? or is this microsoft specific?"
11/22/2005 02:45:30PM Agent (Syed_0116992): "Eric, you will be notified when there is a fix for the issue."

This maybe a dumb question but I just received my WM5 Cd yesterday. Should I install WM5 then wait for the ROM update or update the ROM, when its released, first then install WM5?

so if there IS a wm5se, should we wait for that one, or get the one we have now and just upgrade (hopefully for free) later? (with x50's (v))

With all the reported (and verified) problems and things you need to give up in order for WM5 to function anywhere near OK but crippled, I would not install WM5 now and wait until the update comes out before upgrading.

Bump... ha ha, it's funny cause dell ripped us off.

Read the beginninng of this thread and see where we are 3 months later. Oh well, I love giving Dell 50 dollars for an upgrade worse then the original.

What is going on with this? The problems are all the same. There should be no confusion as to what needs to be fixed. Has anyone heard anything about a resolution?
