WM5 Battery Performance

I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about on these forums but I have found the battery performance has improved. Here are three different battery tests I ran using my x50v. I was using the 2200 mAh extened battery and all music was loaded from a 4 GB Hitachi Microdrive. The CPU was set to AUTO.

OS: Windows Mobile 2003SE
Software: Windows Media Player 10 (doesn't cache media files)
Maximun run time: just over 5 hours of music playback

OS: Windows Mobile 2003SE
Software: Conduits Pocket Player 2.61 (caches media files)
Maximun run time: just under 8 hours of music playback

OS: Windows Mobile 5
Software: Windows Media Player 10.2 (caches media files)
Maximun run time: 10 hours of music playback

This test was done with a fully charged battery and the display shut off. I've run the test multiple times and the results were the same each time.

Has anyone else actually run any battery test, if so what were your results?

I've upgraded my X50v to WM5. But I have to say that the battery performance has gone down dramatically. I do have the standard battery, but under WM2003SE I was able to use my PDA for three hours. Now I barely end up using it an hour. I'm not speaking of MP3 listening, but general usage and internet browsing.

I agree with you 100%. I'm getting the exact same results under general usage and wi-fi.

I have both the standard and extended batteries. But this is where it gets weird.

On the standard battery, it seems to drain it like water out of a bath... I was really surprised when my PDA turned wi-fi off due to low power after I'd only read a few pages on the web.

However, on the extended battery I've happily watched whole movies and still had plenty of juice left at the end to surf the net for a couple of hours.

This doesn't bother me too much because I use the extended battery 95% of the time, but it's quite baffling as to how this could happen.

My super-complicated in-depth test consisted of the following:

I turned on my X50v with 100% battery, played one game of Bubble-Breaker for approximately 3 minutes and used 3% of my battery. I have the standard battery.

I noticed an increase in battery life. I have two standard batteries, each lasts me about 2 hours now. I used full brightness, full speed, no battery save on WiFi. I get a little over 2 hours of continuous music playback on WMP 10 while browsing the net with WiFi. I would get about 1.5 hours on WM2003SE on my X50v
