Good they gave an update to the X51, because they need to sale, but what about the people that already have a X50V, when are planning to release an update...

well the x51 was release a couple of months before the x50 upgrade was released. So it's not suprising that they got the upgrade first

1. How many people already purchased x50's with the free upgrade offer. Probably more than have purchased an x51. So if they don't patch the x50 all these people will be demanding x51's.
They were duped into purchasing the x50 then instead of waiting for the x51.

2. All those people who purchased x50's in first 6 months and spent $39 for the upgrade will be demanding their money back on the CD. Update Makes their unit inoperable. By Dell offering a downgrade back to 2003 SE tells us there is defect in the ROM Update.

Any case if Dell doesnt offer WM 5 Patch for X50 they could suffer significant losses both financially and with the user community.

I never said they didn't need it. Or that they wouldn't get it, or that they don't deserve it, or that Dell aren't working on it.....

It's still not suprising that the first wm5 device gets the upgrade first

I dont seem to be having as many problems as some but cf card dissapears thats about it, apart from other companies not bringing out compatible software yet ie Destinator PN!!!

I have upgraded. After you tweak it, break it, fix it again, re-tweak it and finally get it up and running you realize that improvements are not only cosmetic. :approve:

I received my free upgrade on the Nov 15th. Unfortunately, it was delivered while I was out of town. I'll peruse the threads here and determine how much time I need to set aside for upgrading. I kept my programs minimal, hoping to avoid the despair. If you're one of the many who bought the X50v with the free upgrade, I'd give Dell another call.
