ActiveSync using Bluetooth for WM5?

Has anyone successfully used ActiveSync 4.1 with a Bluetooth connection? I tried to do so, but my Axim x50v wants a "Passkey" to make the connection. What is the passkey for ActiveSync connections?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, i use AS4.1 with BT.

I used the following procedure:

1. On the PC connected my BT USB stick
2. On the PC in Active Sync connection settings allow the just created BT COM port
3. Now that BT and AS on the PC is working go to your PDA.
4. Open the BT configuration
5. Enable BT and on the second TAB create a new BT partnership.
6. If all goes well it finds your PC and shows Active Sync as an offered service. Now enable that service.
7. You can now close the BT configurator.
8. Still on the PDA open Active Sync and choose from the menu "Connect via Bluetooth.
9. Your PDA should now open the COM port on the PC and start Active Sync on the PC as well.
10. It will prompt for a Passkey. Enter a 4 digit number to be used. You decide on the number here. You can click remember password so you don't need to type it all over and over again.
11. It should start syncing now.

p.s. i typed this by head. Hope i remembered it all correctly but you should get the big picture here i hope.

Good luck, Jan

Tks Houtsma, as a total novice to BT, your post steered me in the right direction.

I also sync via BT. I used a passkey for the BT partnership with my device (x51v) as WM5 wouldn't connect without one, but didn't need to use a secure service connection with AS itself afterwards.

It wasn't straightforward at all and the use of the Widcomm drivers made it all finally happen. About to set the BT headset now.

I'll thank you also. I guess I was under the impression that once you had it set up and turned on the bluetooth the sync would happen automatically. I didn't know if you had to set incoming and outgoing com ports on the Axim. But its all working great now.
