Having problems with word.
i do a word document on desktop. move file to the my documents folder that will be synced to ppc. synce recongizes the new file.
open word on ppc, the file is there, click on file and get the following message "a problem with the document was encountered and it cannot be opened"
I never had that problem but word documents were extremely slow loading 4 mins for a 600kb file! try softmaker's textmaker free trial I bought it and its great. I came from palm t3 and documents to go which was great but textmaker is just as good actually better u just put files on ur desktop in your axim file folder and there you go.
I didn't think SynCE played nice with WM5. Could that be the issue?

Are you sure the filepath and name are correct? you might get that error if there is a ghost file you are looking at but it is really not there in memory. Try to reload the file and open it.

I am having the same problems. I have an Axim x51v. My documents do not seem to be interchangeable as I thought they would be. I create documents in word on my pc and try to sync it with my axim but the axim opens it in heiroglyphics. HOW CAN I TRANSPORT FILES FROM MY PC TO MY AXIM?
600kb is a massive word file...most of mine for school are 27-50kb, 91 with an embedded screenshot (using Word's pic compression).
Anyway, I have only had that problem once and have not been able to reproduce it. The first thing I would suggest is to highlight everything in your Word doc on your PC, then select "Clear Formatting" from the drop down menu where it shows what formatting options you have selected. Save to a different filename, sync to your Ax, and see if that helps. Then you can at least know if formatting is causing the problem.
When I got to work today I did some testing, because that is what I do. I transferred a 2Meg overly formatted work doc to my X51v and tried to open it. A couple of minutes later it failed with the error shown above. I can't say I am suprised. I then transferred some more reasonable documents and they worked just fine. Can't exactly say what might set it off, just size? Macros? If I get time I will check those
BTW, I have a laptop that came with works instead of office and it won't open documents either.
I was having a similar problem but after reading some ideas of some of the others on this site, I opened the file that I was having the problem with, on my PC, then I deleted one letter and immediately typed it back in and saved the file. It said that the original document was saved in Windows 95 format and asked if I would like to update it to the current version. After choosing "yes" and closing it, I was able to sync it to the PDA and open it fine.
