Can't install any software to x51V

Help - I cannot install any software to my new x51V! It seems that the install goes OK when a dialog box appears on my desktop, flashes and then disappears. The software then says it's installed but nothing happens on my PDA - there is no communication with the PDA. I'm using ActiveSync 4.1 and A04. I had this problem before A04 and Dell told me to update. I was able to install two programs before a few soft and hard resets when trying to get ActiveSync working but nothing since then. Any ideas? BTW, I'm trying to "Chat" with Dell now.

Could a firewall or some other security app be causing the intallation failure?

I don't think it's a desktop security issue because when I first got the unit, I was able to install software onto it after I got ActiveSync 4.1 to work with ZoneAlarm. After one hard reset I was not able to install software. According to Dell tech support, it's a problem with the 'hardrive' even though the x51V doesn't have a hardrive. They're sending me a new unit this week.
